Future president of the United States , James A. Garfield, w as often calle d upon to speak at holiday celebrations in Chagrin Falls . On one such occasion he stated: “These pioneers know well that the three great forces which constitute the strength and glory of a free government are the family, school and church. These three are planted here . . .” – James A. Garfield, Chagrin Falls , 1873.

The will of the people of the Chagrin Falls community to provide a strong education for its children is the most important link to its educational history. The close ties and pride from the community for its schools has been demonstrated for over 175 years. Today's students and those responsible for their education remain part of the fabric of the history of Chagrin Falls Schools. (Excerpted from ‘History of the Chagrin Falls Schools' by Tom Mattern).

It is this strong link between our community and the schools that continues to make Chagrin Falls and its surrounding communities of South Russell, Bentleyville, and Moreland Hills, a desirable place to live. As other communities within the Cleveland area struggle to attract new residents, the Chagrin Valley has remained strong and vibrant, in large part, because of its thriving school systems.
